The Someone New Scriptwriting Competition

We're always looking to give more opportunities to actors and creators, and that starts with scripts. WRITE OR WRONG is your opportunity to have your work performed by Someone New.

SUBMISSION OVERVIEW

Someone New Theatre Company is keen to bring in new ideas, new plays, and new writers to its community, and so we are keeping WRITE OR WRONG?, our scriptwriting competition, going as an opportunity for playwrights to have their scripts performed professionally.

We have slots open for radio plays as a part of Theatia Podsie, for podcast productions as part of SNTC Presents, for performance as a one-act play in festivals, and as a full-length stage productions held in Geelong, Victoria. ​ Selected submissions will be paid for performance rights, submission is not a guarantee of selection, and all plays must be the property of the person submitting.

Winners will be announced on Sunday the 3th of April. Late submissions will not be considered.

WHAT DO YOU GET?

We have a range of productions and projects that are being produced this year - first and foremost the Theatia Podsie project starting in May, but we have other production and project slots as well. We want to give the opportunity to new playwrights to have their work produced, and we want to pay you for your scripts!

Scripts that are selected for Write or Wrong will be paid for performance rights, depending on the production or project that your script is being offered. You as a writer are also invited to be a part of the production process, and watch your creation come to life.

SUBMISSION

Scripts must be original works, written by the person submitting. Offensive language, themes, or situations must be declared. Concepts and characters must also be original.

There are three categories for submissions: one-act play, comedy, and tragedy. We have several performances and projects scheduled for this year - select the options that you feel your play best fits.

Click on the link at the bottom of this page to fill out the form and upload your submission directly to us. The form also contains a submission agreement.

Our team of local theatre creatives is thrilled to be able to read the collective works of the Someone New following, and will be our judges for this competition.
